Hi, I’m Lucas.

I’m a countertenor, composer, content creator, and educator based in Boston, MA.

I’m a recent graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, where I studied with Dr. Ian Howell. There, I also sang the role of Endimione in Cavalli’s La Calisto, and was featured in several scenes of the opera department including Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Eurydice and Medoro in Handel’s Orlando.

I was also one of the inaugural members of the Song Lab at New England Conservatory, in which I was lucky to work with some of the greatest champions of the song genre including Thomas Hampson and Darryl Taylor, and through which I frequently performed in NEC’s Liederabend series.

You can read my professional bio here.

In every one of my musical, creative, and career endeavors, I prize authenticity above all else. I believe we are all at our best when we are at our most honest–that’s why it’s my mission in life to use my voice to tell the truth. It is my hope that through an unrelenting commitment to honesty, I might encourage others to live their truth with integrity.

Opera Roles

On operatic stages, I’ve performed roles like Endimione in La Calisto, Tolomeo in Giulio Cesare, Claudio in Silla, and Doodle in The Scarlet Ibis (Weisman and Cote, 2015).

I’m passionate about interpreting early and new music, because both allow me as a performer to bring maximum creativity and originality to my work.

Concert Work

As a concert soloist, I have performed as an alto soloist in Messiah, Zelenka’s Missa Omnium Santorum, Vivaldi’s Gloria and as Isaac in Britten’s Canticle II. I made my countertenor debut in 2017 as an undergraduate with Stetson University’s Concert Choir singing “Es ist vollbracht!” under the direction of Simon Carrington. I regularly perform all over New England with such groups as the Oratorio Chorale of Maine and the Henry Purcell Society of Boston. I also sing with the choir of Men and Boys at The Parish of All Saints, Ashmont.

Teaching studio

I aspire to teach my students to sing with efficiency, freedom, and honest expression in any genre. Through regular lessons, my students experience increased ease, stamina, range, and confidence, discovering new functions and capabilities of their voices. Interested? Check out My Teaching.

YouTube

Since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, I have been producing content on YouTube. My videos give me a platform to perform whatever music I love, analyze and explain it, (over)share about my mental health journey, and talk about the issues that matter most to me.
